About Local 1985

SEIU Local 1985's motto is "Whatever it takes, as long as it takes." And Local 1985 has been working toward gaining a voice for Georgia state, county and municipal employees for 20 years.

Formed out of the Civil Rights movement, SEIU Local 1985 is a different kind of local. It represents 5,000 state employees across the state — from workers employed by Parking Company of America to Head Start workers in Atlanta to employees at the Airport to employees with the Department of Family and Children Services.
